Country Club Old Fort Traffic Calming Map
Traffic Calming Initiative
Prior to the Magnolia Road Closure and the subsequent increased traffic impacts, Woodland Drives Neighborhood, after securing the required 75% support from impacted residents (parcels touching the street right-of-way within the project limits), submitted a petition for the City of Tallahassee (COT) to conduct a traffic study to determine whether Old Fort Drive, Country Club Drive, and Myers Park Drive qualify for traffic calming devices pursuant to the COT’s criteria.
The City conducted an assessment on Country Club Drive, Old Fort Drive, and Myers Park Drive and all there streets qualified for traffic calming.
The three streets met the requirements of over 150 vehicle trips per day, and the 85th percentile speeds recorded were “well over” the posted speed limit of 30 mph.
Based on the results of the traffic study, the City of Tallahassee (COT) is proposing a series of traffic humps as an initial traffic calming approach for Old Fort Drive, Country Club Drive, and Myers Park Drive (map of the plan was provided to impacted residents).
All three streets have secured the required 67% of ballots in support, and traffic calming will be implemented per the COT’s proposed plan.
The City marked the locations, and the Board provided feedback suggesting some revisions and additional measures.
The COT expects to respond back to us during the week of May 5, 2025.
Implementation of the speed humps should follow soon after.
